Barceloneta Bicicleta
During one of our free weekends in Barcelona when we were not traveling, Otilia, Audrey and I went down to Ciutat Vella to rent bikes to ride along the beach. We rode along the bike path to the W Hotel where the bike path ended at the shipping port and then we road in the other direction towards Poblenou. By the W Hotel there are multiple private beach clubs with volleyball courts and other amenities for those willing to pay to go to a beach. I was impressed to see that there were some people surfing in the shore break. When we passed all of the night clubs in Port Olympic, the promoters were standing at the entrances trying to invite us to the clubs that night. I didn't have the heart to tell them i have a general distaste for the club scene so we just ignored their harassing. As we kept going, the number of people began to thin and there were fewer tourists by Poblenou. There was a skatepark with kids skateboarding and doing tricks. It made me miss my long board I ride at school and I wished I could ride it around Barcelona.
While I have taken advantage of the great location of Barcelona to travel to other countries and explore the rest of Europe, I have also enjoyed having a free weekend every other week or so to explore Barcelona. I chose to study abroad in Barcelona for a reason and I would not want to spend all my free time in other places.
