Roman Civil Engineering Influence in Catalunya
The city of Barcelona was founded by the Romans in the 3rd Century BC. At the time it was a city called Barcino with a population much smaller than today. As the old Roman city was torn down and expanded beyond its city walls, the ruins were remained beneath the city. During construction digs and archaeological evacuations, ancient Roman ruins, such as walls, towers, sewer systems, public baths, and streets, have been uncovered and preserved.
