Roman Religious Artifacts and Life: From Polytheism to Monotheism

The Romans were polytheistic and they worshipped a variety of gods and goddess that related to love, marriage, family, work, health, the Earth and Sky, and many more. Depictions of their gods and stories can be found on tile mosaics and shrines. During their time in Barcino they persecuted anyone who did not adhere to Roman religion such as Christians and Jews. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Visigoths took control of Spain in the 5th century and spread Christianity throughout. Although they brought many changes with the monotheistic religion, many aspects of daily life stayed the same.
